The American Academy of Dermatology recommends everyone use sunscreen that offers the following:

- Broad-spectrum protection (protects against UVA and UVB rays)

- SPF 30 or higher

High-SPF products require higher concentrations of sun-filtering chemicals than low-SPF sunscreens do.
